I started working when my kids were very young, roughly about 25 years ago. 

I used to cook and sell fish earlier, but then I shifted to selling drinks. I feel its more convenient and the heat is also bearable. 

I mostly run the stall alone but my husband helps out in the evening. Frankly, the earning is not very high. However, I don’t like being dependent on my children, how much ever we earn is enough for my husband and I to lead a comfortable life.

The job is tiring and its becoming more difficult to cope up with old age. We don’t even get off on the weekends like other corporate jobs. However, I don’t have any complaints as I like working at the Hawker centre. The people are very nice and I have a lot of friends here. In fact, I like being at work and chit-chatting with all my friends rather than getting bored alone at  home.
